My little sister is getting married.  Eeeekkkk!!!  It still doesn’t feel quite real that my baby sister is getting married this summer.  Seriously, when did she go from being a little girl with wild banana curls to a beautiful, (and very grown up) young woman?

For as long as I can remember my sister has loved the color pink.  Sometime during the planning of my own wedding, I made an off hand comment that when she got married her bridal shower theme would be ‘Think Pink’.  So when the bridal shower planning began it seemed only fitting to follow through with ‘Think PINK!’ theme.

Creating invitations is one of my favorite creative things to do in preparation for a party.  Invitations set the stage for an event.  They serve as the guests’ first glimpse of what is to come.  So I wanted to give the guests a small taste of the event while providing them with all the details they need.

After reviewing a ton of invitations, which provided ample inspiration, I started designing the Think PINK bridal shower invitation.  The bridal shower invitations took a few iterations.  All the details of the invite from the font and color to the wording and design had to be spot on.

Here is the final product:

Think Pink! Bridal Shower Invitations - Back of Invitation | Life's Tidbits

With the bridal shower invitation I enclosed a recipe card for each of the guests.  My sister has been getting into cooking over the past few years; this seemed like the perfect way to build her recipe collection.  Originally, I had planned to design and print custom recipe cards, however time got away from me and I ended up purchasing recipe cards online instead.

Think Pink! Bridal Shower Invitations - Back of Invitation with Recipe Card | Life's Tidbits
Here’s the copy for the back of the invitation {it’s kind of hard to read in the pictures}:

One small request that won’t be too hard…

Bring a Recipe

{Bride Name} & {Groom Name} will soon say, “I do.” They’ve got lots of love, but they’ll need to eat too!{Bride Name} might like to try your favorite cake, or that dish your friends always ask you to make.

So don’t forget the recipe card on this special date. Fill it in now, don’t hesitate. At the shower will be a recipe box to fill so bring this card or mail it back if you will!

All in all, I am very happy with how the invitation turned out.  My sister was very pleased with the bridal shower invitation design, which was the most important thing.

Hey there!  Oh my gosh, do you even remember that I blog??  It has been a while … insert a bajillion excuses here.  Oh yeah, ummmm, okay, let me just tell you why.  Work has been insanely busy.  It’s that good kind of busy though.  I’m learning so much and really loving putting that PMP to good use.  Jellybean has been staying up later, which is great because we get more quality time during the week!  The only down side is it shortens then amount of time I have with both my hand and not having to keep one eye on the bambino!  Post bedtime stories are packed with household stuff, relaxing and QT with the hubby.  Finding the energy and motivation to blog has been hard, but I’ve really missed it.

So I’m back … and oh so hopeful you will accept me back into the fold. =)

Lets get to it with my current favorites this Friday!

JellybeanEasterWeekend

I finally got around to ordering prints from January to March of this year … jeez I’m a slacker!  But, seriously, what is better than actual prints?!?!  Any-hoo this picture is from Easter weekend and I just love it.  Jellybean is concentrating on saying hello to the ‘baaa baaa baaa, sheep’.  Our kiddo has ZERO fear and stuck her little hand through the fence in an attempt to touch the ‘baaa baaa baaa’.  Luckily Grammy was closely monitoring the interaction so I could capture the moment.

I’m totally obsessed with this Crispy Cajan Chicken dish.  It’s a home run recipe!!  I’ve modified it a little by brushing on the hot sauce and then searing it on the stove top, followed by baking in the oven.  When I cooked it on the stove top the whole time all the breading fell off – total bummer.  I’ve literally made this meal every week since finding the recipe.

They don’t call these leggings ‘live in’ for nothing! I want to wear the all day everyday.  I’m thinking of buying a second pair in another color.  And speaking of clothes, I wish it was acceptable to wear the same blazer EVERY.SINGLE.DAY to work.  Given how hot is has been in DC as of late this blazer has been clutch.  Throw it over my tank top and head to a meeting … professional and comfy!

This baby sponge is amazing and why didn’t we find it when Jellybean was just an infant.  Bath time sponge equals a decrease in the amount of laundry {no more… or at least less wash clothes}.

Totally loving this fashion blogger.  I’m working on creating a new cohesive wardrobe so I’m really into reading these types of blogs recently.

My sister is ENGAGED!!!  I got her this super cute cup as an engagement gift.  It’s been crazy fun to help her plan a little.  It brings back so many memories from planning my own wedding.  I’ve also been pinning bridal shower and wedding ideas like crazy.  Pinterest … Can’t Stop … Won’t Stop.  LOL.

Finally tried this under eye dark circle corrector.  Everyone sings it’s praises and I do like it, however I have a feeling I’m not applying it quite right.  So I will continue to work on that!

What are your favorites this week??  Happy Friday! I hope you have a fabulous weekend!!

Last June my girl Erin got MARRIED!  The wedding was beautiful and the husband, Jellybean and I had an amazing time.  I am just so honored to have been her Matron of Honor.  Though we aren’t related by blood this girl is like a sister to me.  Our birthdays are just 10 days apart and we’ve know each other our entire lives … we met while our parents were preparing for our birth at lamaze class.  But enough mushy stuff, let’s talk about the bachelorette party!

The bachelorette party and bridal shower were held the same weekend.  I already shared the Badass Bachelorette Survival Kits we made for each of the ladies for the big night out.  What I haven’t shared was the theme for the evening or the details of the pre-party.  I’m ashamed it has taken me so long to get this post together!

Bachelorette Party Ideas: Kamasutra Drinks | Life's Tidbits

Saturday night was ‘sex’ themed … yeah, I know, but it’s a bachelorette party.  The night was broken into three groups …

“Foreplay” – Drinks/Bachelorette Games/Pantie Game
“Midpoint” – Dinner
“Climax” – Dancing!

The other DC based bridesmaid’s came up with the fantastic idea of doing Kamasutra themed drinks during the “foreplay” portion of the evening. They were so tasty and the at the bachelorette really like the little details and descriptions of each of the drinks.  Assuming I am remembering correctly after searching my emails (errr why didn’t I do this earlier again?!) there were 4 drinks…

  1. The Perfect Manhattan and the Kamasutra Probe (sweet vermouth, extra dy vermouth, bitters, bourbon)
  2. The sexy devil (vodka, cranberry, dry vermouth, lemon peel, cherry)
  3. The Naked Martini (It’s a take on the classic dirty martini).
  4. Can’t find the name … POUT … Vodka, grapefruit and rosemary (pictured above)

And here is the drink table my friend put together … that guy still cracks me up!

Wilton Edible Glitter, Gold Stars

Have you seen this before at a bachelorette party?  Any recommendations on other fun ‘bachelorette’ themed drinks?

For Jellybean’s birthday party I made a first birthday chalkboard sign.  It made for a great decoration and everyone took sometime to read the tidbits we included on the poster.  My mother raved the whole weekend about how cute and unique it was (clearly not unique if you’ve been on Pinterest, but either way) I was thrilled with her feedback!

My mom asked if it was possible to make some tweaks and create a bridal shower version of the chalkboard sign.  She was throwing a bridal shower for a co-worker in a few weeks and thought it would be a perfect for her party.  I gave it some thought and figured why not?!  We sat down and came up with a list of fun things that could be included on the sign.  She called her friend and asked for answers to some of the items she didn’t already know.  Armed with the sign content I got to work!

It took a little bit of finesse, but I was able to adapt the 1st birthday sign into a bridal shower chalkboard sign!

Inspiration & DIY Directions

I think this would be a really cute detail for at the wedding (like near the guest book and/or card box) or maybe even a bachelorette party.    Either way the sign was a huge hit with the bride.  Bonus is my mother was a happy hostess!!

In case you are interested … I used the following fonts: MomsDiner, ReturnToSender, KGMakesYouStronger, and Adobe Devanagari as well as these dingbats: FramesAndRiboons, Bergamot Ornaments and AEZ Wedding Dings

Have you made any chalkboard signs for a bridal shower?  What’s your favorite personalized decorations for a bridal shower?

HAPPY FRIDAY!  This week went by so fast and yet slow at the same time – a contradiction I know.  Who else is excited that the USA beat Ghana in their first World Cup game??  I’m looking forward to hanging out with friends this weekend and going to our first Nationals game of the season.  Unfortunately I didn’t plan ahead so Jellybean doesn’t have any Nationals gear to wear to the game – I think we will just dress her in red and white!

Let’s get to it … high 5 moments from this week!

High5Friday

1.  Last weekend we SUCCESSFULLY travel to Seattle for my friend’s wedding and then back to DC.  While I would be lying if I said travelling cross country with a 5 month old was a walk in the park, it was far less stressful and not a complete disaster as I had feared it would be.  Despite keeping Jellybean up until all hours of the night (thank you time change) and completely deviating from her schedule she was in a great mood (most of the time).  I was a proud mama and smiled from ear to ear when wedding guests commented on how beautiful, good natured and social she was! =)

2.  Jellybean started holding her own bottle! About a week ago she did it for the first time, however it was only for a minute or two. This week she held it for an entire feeding without us having to hold the bottle for her (she even tipped it up more when the milk flow slowed down – smarty pants that she is!). She seems to still prefers for us to hold her bottle … I mean it’s so much more relaxing to be fed, right?!?! hehehehe.

3.  Professionally it was a great week as well.  Best week since returning from maternity leave!

4.  No more traveling for almost 5 whole weeks. We have been on the move the past few weeks with weddings and other commitments.  I’m excited to be able to be in my own house for the next few weeks.

5.  After going back and forth on what type of storage to buy for Jellybean’s room (we are talking the past 3 months I couldn’t decide!) I finally made a decision.  She needed places to put all the toys she has been acquiring as well as place for blankets.  I found some cute canvas storage containers at Pottery Barn Kids.  I hope they look as cute in the room as I envision!

What’s your high 5 moment(s) from this week?
